Michigan is now moving forward with the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is recommending vaccine providers resume the use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine. This recommendation is based on the FDA and the CDC recommending the states move forward with the vaccine. The agencies previously recommended a pause on April 13 while experts conducted a thorough safety review after reports of a rare blood clotting syndrome in some people.

The FDA determined the vaccine’s benefits outweigh its risks. They will continue to investigate the risk and suggest that people who wish to receive this vaccine read the Fact Sheet for Recipients and Caregivers, which has been revised to include information about the risk.
