Transportation Secretary Touts Infrastructure Plan
Just days after congress sent the long-delayed $1.2 trillion infrastructure package to President Joe Biden , Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg
highlighted the items given funding by the package.
Included are crumbling roads and bridges, gaps in access to affordable internet, water tainted by lead pipes and homes and cities ill-prepared to cope with increasingly frequent extreme weather conditions are also getting some attention.
Buttigieg described the package as "a big deal" and maintains it "couldn't come at a more urgent time."
But the drawn out and fraught journey to passing the measure hurt Democrats' popularitym and in an effort to correct past messaging mistakes, the White House is planning an aggressive sales campaign with Biden planning trips across the U.S. to speak about the impacts of the legislation.
The President will also visit a port in Baltimore on Wednesday and promises a signing ceremony for the infrastructure bill when legislators are back in town.
