Attorney General Nessel Makes First Stops to Recognize Exemplary Police Efforts, with her Above and Beyond Award
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is recognizing law enforcement officials for their dedication to the communities they serve as she travels around the state. Nessel’s Above and Beyond Award will go to officers and other personnel who are nominated for their efforts by their departments.
Earlier this week, Nessel honored Portage Officer David Barker for saving a person who was had self harming thoughts last year. Yesterday, she recognized two members of the Northville Township Police Department for their work in assisting agencies in the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission delegation process.
Public Safety Manager Lisa Cupp and Lt. Christopher Rowley are Accreditation managers who help agencies across the state become an accredited agency through the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police. Nessel says “Law enforcement officers are our real-life heroes and often place themselves at risk in order to protect the members of the communities they serve.”
