(NEWSnet) — Norwegian researchers published a map Friday projecting a huge plume of methane released by the damaged Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, which they said will travel over large swaths of the Nordic region.

Officials at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research said it might be the "largest single emission of methane " ever measured.

Officials said these methane levels aren’t dangerous to public health but are a potent source of global warming.
