The Traverse City Pit Spitters opened up the regular season at home.

They were hoping to win the first one.  The Spitters are shooting for a 3rd Northwoods league championship season.  The Pit Spitters are started their campaign, facing the Rockford Rivets.  It was the game, the Spitters wanted with great pitching and timely hitting.  They beat the Rivets by a score of 5-1.  Starting pitcher Aaron Forrest went 5 innings, striking out 4, giving up only 1 run for the win.  Relievers Nate Blain and Nico Saldias came in for the last 4 innings, pitching shutout ball.  3rd baseman Glenn Miller led the TC offense with 2 hits, he also drove in a run.  The Pit Spitters are happy with their all around play, most importantly grabbing the season-opening win on their home ball field.
