Back in January, the Michigan State Police of Houghton Lake were called by the Crawford County Sheriff's office to investigate a complaint involving a public official.

The MSP was called because of a possible conflict of interest.

Allegations were made, that Shelly Pinkelman from Frederic had forged a person's name on the deed, removing him from the property from the joint ownership.

After Pinkelman removed the name from deed, she added a family member and applied for a mortgage for the property for $20,000.

After a lengthy investigation an arrest warrant was issued on May 18th, Pinkelman and her attorney were notified, and she turned herself into the Crawford County jail, that day.

She is facing multiple charges, given a PR bond and her next court appearance is on June 29th.
