On Wednesday at 2:58 p.m., the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on the 1000 block of S Crapo St.

Upon arrival to the scene, fire crews saw smoke coming from a residential duplex and brought the fire under control by 3:31 p.m.

The duplex sustained light fire damage in the garage and eaves.

The occupants were home at the time, but were able to leave safely with no injuries.

The Fire department say that the cause of the fire was due to cigarette smoking in the area.
