Alpena Man Arrested for Stealing a Polaris

An Alpena man arrested for stealing a Polaris RZR, according to Michigan State Police
MSP was contacted in September to investigate a 2018 Polaris RZR RS1.
They say the victim stated the Polaris was stolen from Bloom Road.
Troopers collected evidence from the scene, as well as footwear impressions.
True North Radio Network shared the information and photo on their Facebook page and not long after they got an anonymous tip that 51-year-old Christoper Smolinski was driving the stolen Polaris.
Troopers say they went to the man's residence and found him in the garage with the stolen ATV and he recently painted it.
A report was turned over to the Alpena County Prosecutors Office and an arrest warrant was authorized for Smolinski on December 10th.
Arrested the next day.
He was arraigned Tuesday on one count Unlawful Driving Away Motor Vehicle, one count Malicious Destruction of Personal Property $20,000 or more, one count Receiving Concealing Stolen Vehicle, and one county Concealing or Misrepresenting Motor Vehicle Identity with Intent to Mislead.
His next scheduled court appearance is December 19th.
