NEW YORK (NEWSnet/AP) — About 16.9 million watched Taylor Swift make history and saw performances by Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish at the 66th Grammy Awards.

It’s the largest audience for the telecast in the past four years.

Ratings were up 34% compared to 2023 on CBS, Paramount+ and other digital platforms, and with delayed viewing included is expected to surpass 17 million.

The telecast peaked with 18.25 million viewers during the In-Memoriam segment, with performances by Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Jon Batiste and Fantasia Barrino.

Viewers watched Cyrus perform her megahit “Flowers, which won record of the year, and Eilish’s piano ballad from “Barbie,” “What Was I Made For?,” which was crowned song of the year.

The album “Midnights” brought Swift her fourth career Grammy for album of the year, a record.

Live television viewership has declined across-the-board over the past few years, with pro football one of the few events to buck the trend.
