The Michigan Senate passed a bill this week that would make it so drivers would have to stay at least 200 feet from a snowplow.

That 200 feet is roughly about 12 car lengths.

This rule does not apply when the driver's vehicle is legally overtaking or passing a snowplow.

We are told if the driver of a vehicle that is not a snowplow approaches behind while it is stopped at or in an intersection must be at least 20 feet from the snowplow.

The bill states that a person who violates this section is responsible for a civil infraction.

The bill is now headed to a House committee.
