WOODLAND, Calif. (NEWSnet/AP) — Investigators in Northern California say a 2-year-old was hit by a truck at a gas station and that a 3-year-old was the one behind the wheel of that truck.

The owner of the truck was inside the gas station store at the time of the tragedy over the weekend in the city of Woodland, northwest of Sacramento, the Woodland Police Department said in a statement.

The child was able to get out of their car seat and moved into the driver’s seat, police said. The truck then began moving until it hit the 2-year-old who was near her parent’s taco stand on the edge of the lot.

The child died after being taken to a hospital by family members.

Police did not reveal any identities of those involved but said everyone has cooperated and there has been no arrest.

No other details were provided.
