WASHINGTON (NEWSnet/AP) — A short list of states is holding presidential primaries Tuesday.

While the nomination season official continues for a few more weeks, Democrat President Joe Biden and Republican former president Donald Trump are now the leading candidates and do not face strong challengers during what’s left of primary season.

Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Wisconsin will hold presidential primaries for both parties Tuesday.

In addition, there will be runoff elections for other seats in Arkansas and Mississippi; and a non-presidential primary in Wisconsin.

Delaware also was scheduled to hold a Republican presidential primary on Tuesday, but the contest was canceled on March 19 after former candidate Nikki Haley left the ballot. Biden was the only Democrat to file for Delaware, so that party race was never scheduled.
