(NEWSnet) – The National Park Service, which is responsible for more than 400 natural, cultural, and historic sites across the U.S., will host its annual National Park Service Week activities April 20-28.

The week includes Earth Day, which takes place April 22 to encourage learning about, and preservation of, natural resources. It also includes National Park Rx Day on April 20, which encourages people to participate in physical activity and enjoy nature in the outdoors.

Other themes and activities promote volunteering; participating in art activities; and learning about history of the nation through exhibits and displays.

In addition, entrance fees will be waived April 20 at the NPS sites that normally charge admission. The remaining free entrance days for 2024 will be June 19, Aug. 4, Sept. 28 and Nov. 11.
