UPDATE: Ryan Garcia missed weight at 143.2 pounds at the official morning weigh-in, making him ineligible to win the WBC Super Lightweight title. However, the fight will go on.

(SNH) — Cooler heads will attempt to prevail tonight in New York City when Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia clash at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the WBC Super Lightweight world title in the night’s main event. Despite speculation it may not happen, the promotion for the fight moved forward as scheduled.

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) said Thursday at the final pre-fight open workout that Garcia has no idea what’s coming at him and will look to exploit his weaknesses in the ring.

“I mean, none of Ryan's antics has really gotten under my skin,” Haney said in a press release from Golden Boy Promotions. “I'm a true professional. When I get into that ring, I am going to do my job. No matter how I feel, no matter what Ryan shows up, or whatever he says. He can say whatever he wants to say. I am going to let my hands talk in the ring on Saturday night."

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), coming off a victory against Oscar Duarte in December, said he sees Haney as just another opponent and doesn’t understand the criticisms coming his direction.

“It's right in front of your face,” Garcia said. “How am I going to miss weight?! I am just a motherf***er on a mission. I am still here, I am strong, and I am ready to destroy him. If Devin doesn't land face first, then I did something wrong."

In a series of videos across social media, some deleted and some still present, Garcia has spoken about mental health, conspiracy theories, boxing’s corruption and more.

Is it an act? Garcia and Haney beg to differ from each other.

“You can't deny all the work that Derrick and I have put in either,” Garcia said. “My technique is better, my hands are up, the chin is down - what do you all have to say? The social media is all just noise. I post something and then people think I'm crazy. I know what I am doing and am in the middle of a promotional fight."

While Haney gave Garcia where credit is due, he still considers himself the better fighter.

"Ryan may have the speed, but I have the timing,” Haney said. “I just want to show how I am levels above this guy. Ryan is an average fighter with a big name. I am a proven fighter, proven champion. I was tested by some of the best fighters in the world, and I am here for a reason. It's me vs. greatness."

The fight marks the center of the combat sports world, as no UFC event is up against the pay-per-view blockbuster, which airs globally on DAZN Worldwide for a fee.

The Haney-Garcia ring walks are set to begin at 11 p.m. Eastern, according to DAZN, which will compete against opening games of the NBA and NHL playoffs and any remaining MLB games Saturday night.

Nonetheless, the fight is on, as the ceremonial weigh-ins occur Friday afternoon.
