NEW YORK (NEWsnet/AP) — “Civil War” remained the top film in U.S. and Canada theaters in its second week of release, according to studio estimates Sunday.

A24’s film gathered $11.1 million in ticket sales at 3,929 theaters over the weekend. The film, produced at a cost of $50 million, has grossed $44.9 million in two weeks.

Heading into the weekend, Universal Pictures’ “Abigail,” had been expected to lead ticket sales. It finished second, with $10.2 million in 3,384 theaters.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” was third in North America, and has continued to lead worldwide ticket sales for the past month.

“The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” debuted in fourth. “Spy x Family Code: White” concluded the top five.
