Central Michigan baseball was looking just to take one against Akron at home.

The Zips won the first two, and they took the capper 8-5.  In the first inning, the Zips got to Keegan Batka, scoring 5 runs.  They had two 2-run jacks in the frame.  The Zips then added another 3 in the 7th.  Right after that, in the bottom half, the Chippewas finally got it going with 5 runs to cut the deficit, but they could not get it any closer.  The blitz was highlighted by Cole Prout's two-run homer and a two-run double from Danny Wuestenfeld.  Wuestenfeld has been a bright spot for CMU this season.  The Central men did outhit Akron 28-27.  Head coach Jake Sabol says they need to do a better job in generating rallies, which has been an issue all season.

The women's softball team wrapped up the regular season, hosting Ball State.

This was also the final hoorah for 8 seniors in their final home game.  The Central ladies were trying to make it 2 out of three, but the Cardinals won the rubber game, 5-2.  The Cards roughed up Central starter Grace Lehto, scoring 5 in the 3rd.  CMU did cut the deficit on a 2-run double by Caitlyn Britton in the bottom of the 6th.  The Chippewas could not manage anymore.  Lehto took the loss, head coach McCall Salmon says she wished they could have won the finale.  But she's proud of the work they had put into this regular season, especially from their Seniors.
