TOWSON, Md. (NEWsnet/AP) — Workers at the first Apple Store to unionize have authorized a strike against the tech company’s retail operations.

Workers in Towson, Maryland, approved the measure Saturday, according to International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ Coalition of Organized Retail Employees.

No date is set for the strike. The vote followed what the union says is “over a year of negotiations with Apple management that yielded unsatisfactory outcomes.”

Workers seek revisions to what they deem “unpredictable” scheduling practices and request wages that align with the local cost of living.

In June 2022, workers at the store voted to unionize, by a nearly 2-to-1 margin.
