PHOENIX (NEWSnet/AP) — National Weather Service said Sunday an excessive-heat watch is in effect June 11-13 for the Phoenix metro area and other portions of Arizona.

Dangerously hot conditions also are being forecast for central Las Vegas, with highs ranging from 108 to 111.

“As we get to these first couple weeks of June, a lot of places are really starting to see those temperatures escalate,” said Todd Shoemake of National Weather Service in Albuquerque. “Southern California, southern Nevada, southwestern Arizona, they’re starting to see lots of triple digits.”

On June 6, Phoenix temperature surpassed 110 for the first time in 2024, with a record-setting high of 113.

Albuquerque and Las Vegas had record highs late last week.
