The Cadillac Freedom Festival has been going on for quite a few years now, and last year, they celebrated with fireworks going off in time with music to celebrate the 4th, and the days after.

This year, believe it or not, they have something even bigger planned.

Kate King, who is the secretary for the Freedom Festival Committee, tells us that there are many ways residents can celebrate before the festivities end on Sunday.

"We've got live music Friday and Saturday. We finish off Friday with our drone show....and then we move into Saturday, which is our biggest day. We've got the car show, car and motorcycle show downtown....So we'll have lots of businesses open, lots of food trucks here.... We've got a cornhole tournament, we've got bingo. Both of those are fundraisers. And then the live music is back as well, and then we finish off the night with the fireworks."

The parade, which started at 1 pm, kicked off all the festivities, with an outdoor church service ending the celebrations on Sunday.

Kate says that the festival is a chance, not only to celebrate but help the area.

"Cadillac's also a tourism town, and so a lot of our businesses depend on the financial income during the summer. So this also helps our local businesses by bringing more attention to our town."

Kate also told us what you should know about their main events.

"So the drone show will be visible from downtown Cadillac. We're telling everyone to go to the Rotary Pavilion and along the lake Cadillac shoreline, and then from the Rotary Pavilion, we will be broadcasting music that is sent to the drone show. I've gotten to see a preview and it's pretty cool. So we're really excited.....And then the fireworks will be Saturday night and those will be launching from our baseball fields....And so everybody should go to where they would normally go to watch the fireworks. Lake Cadillac shoreline along the Rotary Pavilion, again, is our recommended viewing area."

The fireworks and drones will have a soundtrack on 107.9 CDY.
