City Offices in Cleveland Remain Hobbled by Cyberattack

CLEVELAND (NEWSnet) - Cleveland's City Hall still has not resumed full operations in the aftermath of a what authorities called a “cyber incident.”
According to posts the city made on social media, the city identified “abnormalities in its IT environment” that forced a complete closure of city offices Monday and Tuesday. Only essential staff were expected to work.
While details on what exactly happened have not been released, city officials have spelled out on a case by case basis what services and offices remained in service – including 911 service, the port operations for Cleveland Hopkins and Burke Lakefront Airports, and the local municipal court.
There was an attempt Wednesday to partially restore off-line services; but many remained unavailable including the ability to accept permit application payments.
By the end of the business day Wednesday, city officials announced that city hall would be closed to the public again on Thursday and Friday.
